The First Blood Type
Boom (1971-81) -- Mr. Masahiko Nomi| 9/1971 | Mr .Masako Nomi published his first book of blood type "Ketsueki-gata de wakaru aisho" (Understanding affinity by blood type) |

| 8/1973 | Mr. Masako Nomi published "Ketsueki-gata ningen-gaku" (Blood type humanics) and caused the first blood type boom in Japan. "Ketsueki-gata ningen-gaku" was sold more than 300,000 copies and became one of the best sellers in this year. |

Mr. Masahiko Nomi was active in this time. It seems that there are very few book/magazine articles by other writers, because he is the pioneer of blood type and personality and (maybe) didn't want to be said by others. For another characteristic in this time, the target was only the male businessman.

After Mr. Masahiko Nomi's death, his son, Mr.
Toshitaka Nomi took over. Many people wrote about blood type and the boom spread further
more. Mr. Takatoshi Nomi published "Ketsueki-gata omoshiro dokuhon" (Blood type
interesting textbook) and caused the second blood type boom in Japan (Part 2 & 3 was
also published later). Also the criticism by Japanese psychologists becomes popular as the
reaction. There is hardly the objection to the criticism of the psychologists, somehow.
After 1985, blood-type feature of magazine seemed to have decreased.. The
target shifted gradually from the male businessman to the young woman. Woman's magazine
played the major role ater this time.

This time (mind world and fortune-telling boom as the background?), personality judgment, affinity diagnosis and fortune-telling centering around, the third blood type boom breaks out spontaneously. The opening time of the third boom is not clear, but it became a certain boom from about 1994. Needless to say, more lineup is assembled even from the second boom, although Mr. Toshitaka Nomi is the center of the boom. On the other hand, objections have become popular by psychologists. The theoretical guarantee by "Chiisana akuma no senaka no kubomi" (the hollow of the back of the small devil) of Ms. Kumiko Takeuchi is the big characteristic of the third boom. Homepages about blood type are increasing quickly. Mr. Kaoru Matsuda published the book that searches the history called "'Ketsueki-gata to Seikaku' no Shakai-shi" (Social history of "blood type and personaliy").
