When World War ¶ ended in 1945,
it was the wish of all Japanese people to have over 6,600,000
people sent back to Japan. The port of Maizuru was designated
as anentrance for the returners in 1945. Of the ten major
ports in Japan, it was the only one from 1950 to 1958
receiving a total of 660,000 people for 13 years. Maizuru
Repatriation Memorial Museum was established in April 1988.
About 200,000 people learn the prayer for peace from documents
from all over Japan that are displayed there.
