Eph.1:23 Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all.
|
1. "All in all" (pa;nta e]n pa#sin),
We understand what all the fullness in Col.1:19 is. For at the next verse(1:20)
we have its explanation. But it is difficult what "all in all"
is. For there is not its explanation. Though the name is different, we
can say that "all in all" and "all the fullness" is
the same existence.
The first "All" may be considered all things, but what is "in
all"? It may mean "in all ages". So, "All in all"
may be "All in all ages".
Col.1:19 For in Him He pleased all the fullness to dwell
20 And through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross -- through Him, whether the things on the earth or the things in the heavens.
|
2. And you,(Kai' u[ma#v),
| 2:1 And you, though dead in your offenses and sins, |
Eph.2:1 begins with "And you". It means a continuation from the previous verse 1:23, as br Lee said.
It means that paul is going to speak about one of the constituent of "all
in all" the gobjective weg.
This is a same case of aforementioned on Colossians (see 3.All the fullness). Please look the chart below.
| Ephesians |
Colossians |
22 And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church,
1:23 Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all.
|
1:19 For in Him He was pleased all the fullness to dwell
20 And through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross -- through Him, whether the things on the earth or the things in the heavens. |
2:1 And you, though dead in your offenses and sins,
2 In which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit which is now operating in the sons of disobedience;
3 Among whom we also all conducted ourselves once in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest; |
21 And you, though once alienated and enemies in yourmind because of your evil works,
|
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in offenses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)
6 And raised us up together with Him and seated us together with Him in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,
|
22 He now has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and without reproach before Him;
|
In Colossians 1:21, you the gobjective weg are written in the age of
their old man, alienated and enemies in their mind because of their evil
works.
In Epesians 2:1, you the gobjective weg are also written to have been dead in offenses and sins ... and among whom we the Jews were also dead and conduted lusts of our lusts...written more concretely than in Colossians.
Then, as in Colossians gobjective weg@were reconciled in the body of
His flesh through death to present them holy and without blemish and without
reproach before Him, so in Ephesians gobjective weg were made alive together
with Christ and raised up together with Him and seated in the heavenlies@together
with Him in Christ Jesus.
This is all the story of gobjective weg and not that of "subjective
we" who are on the earth.
